Week 22 - On a roll....literally!

First offical roll from back to front!
Well, we have our hands full with this little guy!  Tuesdsay I had changed his diaper before taking him to daycare, and came back from the trash can to find him on his belly!!  His first roll, and both mom and dad missed it!  No fear though, he's serious about rolling.  I rolled him back and he immediately flipped over again and again and again.  Since then, every day he's been rolling...althoug he's only mastered rolling towards the left at the moment.  And he can only get back to his back if you really really tease him with a very interesting toy!

Watching him roll over is delightful for sure - it sometimes takes him a bit of effort but he's very pleased once he gets there!  He is now starting to roll over in his crib in the morning once he wakes up.  I was worried about him still being swaddled in the woombie, but since its so stretchy he can roll and prop himself up really well on his elbows.  Soon we'll have to let him sleep with his arms free, but I don't think we're quite ready to make that transition!

Last weekend we drove up to the neighborhood where I grew up for the afternoon.  My friend and old neighbor, Becky, invited us for her dad's 60th bday pool party.  We couldn't pass up a chance to visit my old stomping ground on Deep Pond Court.  It was Austin's first time in a big pool, and he loved it!  Thanks to little Tommy for sharing his bumble bee float - Austin floated around in the water for probably 30-45min!

Swimming!
We had our neighbors over for dinner the other night and watched the boys interact.  It really is super cute to see them noticing each other.  I'm excited that Austin has a little buddy close by.  He spent the evening showing little Boston that everything is more fun when you can put it in your mouth.  He even discovered Daddy's beer bottle:

Playtime has a whole new meaning these days.  Austin can spend nearly an hour in his jumperoo just jumping and talking/screaming.  Its quite hilarious.  He's also doing pretty well with sitting up on his own.  He's still pretty wobbly, but its so cute to see him sitting up reaching for toys to grab (and try and eat).

He spends alot of time on his tummy studying toys (after rolling):

Oh, and we should also mention...he's officially 5 months old!!

Tough to get a good picture given Austin's desire to eat his shirt and his 5 month sticker!
We are both just loving this stage.  Austin is fun to play with, and is discovering new things every day.  We're still only trying solids about 3 times a week.  He's not super into it yet, so we're not pushing it.  Watch out, next think you know he'll be crawling around and have even more mischevious looks on his face!!
