Easter weekend we finally got some warm sunshine around here. Its been an extremely long winter, and we can't wait until we can spend some more time outside in the sun. We're not super in to Easter and Austin's a bit too young to really know what Easter is all about, but that being said, I did put together a little Easter basket for him just to start a tradition. I remember growing up and searching for a hidden Easter basket on Easter morning, and its something I'd like to do with Austin as he gets older. No candy this year....but he did get some plastic eggs to play with, a stuffed bunny, some stylin' sunglasses, and a bottle of bubbles. His interest level was pretty minimal, I tried to get some pics of him with the Easter basket but it didn't really work out. At least you can see him in his adorable Easter outfit, thanks to Grandma Romito for the super cute clothes.
Since the weather was nice, we spent a bit of Saturday afternoon outside. Austin has been a little cranky lately. We're hoping that its just his teeth bothering him and that soon he'll be back to his happy self. He always cheers up outside though...just like his mommy and daddy. One of his favorite things these days is to use his walker toy (thanks cousin Maddie!) to get around, so we took it outside and let him take it for a spin on the sidewalk!
He had so much fun walking up and down the sidewalk. He gets this expression of pride and happiness when he walks independently. We took a video of him walking down the sidewalk just to show how cute it is:
He even does a great job walking while just holding one of our hands. I think the walker has helped him get much more confident in his skills. This weekend he would try and take a few steps (maxed out at 4) between Mike and I. Its really only going to be a matter of time before he takes off on his own! Since he spends alot of time standing and trying to cruise from one piece of furniture to the next, we got him a birthday present that would help with his standing. We were visiting friends recently and Austin was really enjoying their play kitchen from Ikea. We put it together this past week, and he has been loving it. Its great because I think years from how he'll still love playing with it...definitely a great addition to our toy collection.
Other than that, it was a pretty low key weekend. Although I suppose in baby milestone world we officially tried the switch from formula to milk. We didn't know what to expect, but Austin sucked down a 5oz bottle of milk Saturday morning and since then we have been formula free! I think we'll stick with bottles this week, and then try a sippy cup and see what happens. While making the switch, we also dropped his mid-afternoon bottle and are limiting him to 18oz a day. The pediatrician definitely said that should be the maximum volume....so far so good. Hopefully as he eats more and more food we can taper down that volume.
Oh, and we had our first officially babysitter (other than Grandmas) on Saturday night. Cousin Aleigh came over so that we could go out to dinner with Tony and Robin. Austin did great and had a blast playing with Aleigh. We'll have to do that again before she goes off to college this fall!
