Ever since we moved to Germantown we found ourselves scanning the real estate ads. I think we both missed our house in Tempe and were feeling quite cramped in the townhouse we were renting. We identified a neighborhood in Silver Spring, MD called 'Colesville' that we really liked, but house prices there are still coming down so it doesn't seem like a good time to buy (especially when we still own our Tempe house!). Lucky for us, Mike found a fabulous house for rent in the area and we were the first couple to take a look at it. After immediately deciding that it was a steal (only $100/month more than our townhouse), we decided to make the move. The location is much more central, much closer to the city, and means that Mike's commute isn't nearly as painful as the 1.5hr train ride! We think it will be great to test out the area and decide if we want to buy something down the road (literally!).
Here's the front of the house

The rest of the house is a work in progress - we've only been here for two weeks, but here's a few pics so that you get the picture:
Living Room

Dining Room (yes, we need a 'real' dining room table/chairs)

Kitchen - we were at first slightly disappointed that it is a galley kitchen, but the owner remodeled the whole thing and we're constantly amazed at how much space there is!

New breakfast table/chairs in our breakfast nook:

This room is a work in progress - its mostly a staging ground for unpacking at the moment!

Our favorite room by far - the screened in patio.

Also gotta love the deck for grilling and our huge backyard! We frequently see deer in the area, and even watched one wait out a storm in our back woods the other day!

Upstairs we have our bedroom, a guest room, my home office, and Mike even has his own office as well! Of course, again, all of these are a work in progress as we are still very much in the unpacking stage!

We were excited to find out that just down the street (about 3 houses away) is the end of a great walking/bike trail. It winds up and down hills through the woods and connects with the trail system that goes straight into downtown DC. We've walked and biked bits of the trail, and every time have been treated to seeing deer a few feet away! We keep meaning to take our camera to capture how beautiful the trail is and promise to post pics soon!
So the moral of the story is that we love our new location and we have tons of space, so guests are welcome any time!! We hope that some of our wedding guests will have a chance to see our new place while they're in town!
