But he doesn't seem to remember that all of the time, because most of the time he ends up like this:
He gets more and more coordinated at it every day. Last night he made it to the Christmas tree and was super excited to reach out and touch a branch and point at the lights. I think that means that gone are the days of putting him down and leaving the room for a few minutes, who knows what he will get in to. I mean, he seems to get into things even when we're right there watching. A few nights ago after remarking that I was glad the carpet looked pretty clean now that he's in to inspecting every speck, we noticed he looked like he was chewing. Yep, he was chewing. He was eating dirt. Somehow he found a small chuck of dried dirt that turned pretty disgusting when mixed with saliva. A little water to rinse out his mouth, and he was good as new. We felt pretty terrible at the time, but hey, he's going to eat dirt at some point in the next few years so why not start now?
Our little guy might just turn into a trouble maker one of these days. Now that he's a bit more mobile, he's definitely starting to get into things. He can definitely open and close drawers...and use the knobs to help himself stand up:
And, in a classic move, the other day he was opening and closing the pot and pan cabinet and managed to pull out a small sauce pan and started banging it on the floor!
Even naptime is fair game for troublemaking! Last week I went in to get Austin from a nap and I decided to sit on the floor attempting to 'hide' from him. He showed me, and just pulled up and peeked over the edge of the crib. Super cute, but definitely a warning that we need to lower the mattress soon!
Somehow we ended up with a kid who loves his crib. When he wakes up, he generally just plays by himself for a while before making enough noise for us to come and get him. He's never really noticed the mobile that has been there since day 1. I realized soon after he was born that it was a cute mobile that matched his room, but it didn't exactly have the crazy colors or shapes that babies seem to be drawn to. Anyway, its a big hit now. His face just lights up when we turn it on!
So, you may have noticed alot more pictures with the binkie. While Austin used to just really use it at naptime/bedtime, he seems to have taken a new liking to it during playtime. Since he can find it if its lying around and put it in himself, we're seeing alot more of the binkie these days. It seems fairly harmless, and it keeps him happy, so we're good with it for now.
Obviously, Austin is a little young to really appreciate trains but since its the holidays and he seemed to like to watch the trains at Brookside Gardens we set up a simple track in our house to see what he would do. At first, he seemed pretty interested and whirled his head around in a circle as the train went around him.
But it didn't take long until he realized he could pick up the train cars and cause derailments!
But its not all fun and games in the Pozsgay household. We had a rough week last week where all three of us got the stomach flu. Austin stayed home from daycare on Monday, Mike and I were super sick on Tuesday, and daycare was basically closed Wed-Fri because we got everyone else there sick. We took Wednesday and part of Thursday to recover, but Friday we were both in serious need of catching up on work. Hence, the fun and games had to end for a bit and Daddy and Austin got serious with some telework:
We're all recovered now and its just about time for our holiday trip!!
