This weekend we rented a kayak and set out for Turner's Creek - a great paddling area just about an hr past the bay bridge. Turners Creek happens to have a huge pod of Lotus that are in bloom this time of year. In parts, you can actually paddle through and under the lotus flowers that grow about a foot or so out of the water. We paddled to 3 different parts of the creek to see the Lotus flowers - it was quite a unique paddling experience! Paddling involved going a mile or so up the Sassafrass river, where many people were out on their motor and sail boats enjoying the day. There was even a primative sandy beach off to the side where we were able to take a break and pretend we were on vacation!

| Sadly, the last picture that we took before the camera got soaked. But a beautiful day indeed! |
And just for fun, thought we'd show a little update of our summer gardening project. The side of our house used to have a very weedy and old hibiscus plant that didn't seem to want to bloom this year. So, over the past few weeks we ripped everything out, created a new flower bed, and planted a new little flower garden.
Soon we're off to France and Switzerland for our summer vacation. I'm sure we'll have lots to share about our adventures. For now, I'll leave you with a shot taken with our new camera lens...its too cute for words:

What kind of new camera lens did you get? I need a 'fast' low f-stop lens for pictures like that.
