After being so pleased with our paint job in the living room, we decided to move right into another painting project - the 1st floor powder room. Our vision was to create a warm and cozy hotel like feel to what used to be a plain room with tacky gold accents (below).
First up, was the idea to spray paint some of the gold with oil-rubbed bronze spray paint to see if we could get an upgraded look for a very low cost. We sprayed the mirror, towel rack, and toilet paper holder and they came out spectacular. A few dollars spent on new drawer/cabinet handles, and a fancy new faucet and we loved how it transformed the look. The hardest thing - picking a paint color. The vision was a warm redish color, and after trying a few mini sample sizes of different colors we arrived at Glidden's Sweet Tea. Its fabulous.
Note the light fixture on the ceiling - we had removed an old ugly fixture from the ceiling and rewired it so that we could hang a new pretty fixture above the sink. Unfortunately it left the room WAY too dark, so we added this cute accent light to brighten the room and highlight our wall art.
And lastly came the wall art - we needed something to go above the toilet that would be accented by the new ceiling light. We arrived at this trio of prints from Etsy - representing Washington DC (for us), Philly (for me), and St. Louis (for Mike). What's particularly hilarious is that, as with nearly all pictures of St. Louis, the ole' CMT building where Mike used to work even made its way into this print! Anyways, they came out great and are a perfect fit for the new powder room!
The only thing left is the floor, which is going to stay this way for a while -- until we get up the energy to pick out and lay tile. It was a satisfying and pretty easy project...not sure what's next!

Just beautiful! Can't believe how perfectly the spray paint worked--and updated things.
Good job on the bathroom improvements... We're about to begin our master bath upgrade, hope it turns out as nice!
