October already?

Oops.  I don't think I've gone quite this long in the past year without posting at least a little blurb and a few pictures.  Guess that goes to show that a toddler keeps you much busier than an infant...or at least busy in a different way!   I'll try to catch things up by just posting some pics along with a few words about what we've been up to!

First, Austin is definitely in to trains.  We got some Ikea train track to start and now have plenty more which has made for hours of entertainment.  If we're outside and ask Austin where his trains are he points to the house and says 'woo woo'.  Its pretty awesome!

Playing has definitely transitioned to more independent play.  Here's our guy stacking blocks and clapping at what a good job he has done:

He's certainly a boy...trains and cars are the primary go-to toys these days.  This little people ramp is a huge hit!

Julian even likes to play trains:

This past month we were so excited for our friends Kim and Nick to visit with their little guy, Parker.  The boys got along so well.  There were a few 'moments' like finding Austin on the floor crying and Parker standing over him having won his turn to jump on our bouncy horse.  But for the most part they were super cute together.  They loved sitting together at the table and chairs and playing with the train cars:

They even shared turns playing with the car ramp!

We took Parker to our favorite farm!

The boys played for quite some time in the farm's toddler barn.  Very silly kiddos!

At the farm, Austin went on his first ride all by himself.  The cow train was a big hit!

The Wheaton train has also been quite the favorite weekend activity.  I have no idea why Austin looks so sad in this picture (perhaps because the train hadn't started moving yet).  He typically stands up and jumps up and down for a good part of the ride.  Even watching the train go by is pretty exciting for him!

Weekends are pretty much all about finding fun playgrounds these days.  Its fun now that Austin can actually 'play' without a huge amount of supervision/hovering over him.

To switch things up from the normal playground weekend routine we headed to the College Park Airport a few weekends ago.  It has some great stuff for toddlers and Austin seemed to love it!

Outside there was a nice play area with a few of the runway.  Quite a good place to watch the planes take off and land!

Since summer has turned to fall, we also made sure to get in at least one good fall activity.  We met our friends the Stuckey's in Pennsylvania at Maize Quest which was quite an awesome place.  Corn maze, bamboo maze, and many other mazes made for quite the fun day.  Austin loved wandering through this fence maze - we were surprised that he actually seemed to understand what to do!

We weren't sure what he'd think, but he seemed to really enjoy digging in the huge corn pit!

We're having lots of fun finding new things for our big kid to do.  Seriously, he seems like such a big kid these days.  He's even drinking from a kids cup out at dinner...I still can't believe it!

At least there's a glimpse of our little sweet baby somewhere deep down inside of him.  When he first wakes up he's so sleepy and lazy and sweet.

Until of course, he pops up and thinks about crawling out:
